Spectral Cathedral (2011)
SPECTRAL CATHEDRAL is an algorithmic composition created in SuperCollider. The pitch content comes from a fixed array of frequencies based on the timbre of bells. In each loop, the program chooses an area of the array from which to draw frequencies, the number of notes to be played, and a rhythm. All sounds in the piece are based on this information.
This piece can be set to any number of loops, which are average around 30 seconds each. For concert presentations, 8 loops would be recommended (about four minutes total). The version below has 24 loops:
