Adam Scott Neal (b. 1981) is an American composer living in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in music technology and a Master of Music degree in composition from Georgia State University, where he studied with Robert Scott Thompson. Currently, Neal is pursuing an MA in Sonic Arts from Queen's University Belfast, where he studies with Pedro Rebelo. His thesis is a portfolio and essay exploring the continuum of determinacy and indeterminacy in compositions for laptop groups.

Sonic Arts from Queen's University of Belfast. Neal's
music has been performed in the US and the UK by such artists as the New
York New Music Ensemble and the neoPhonia New Music
Ensemble. His music has been featured at such international
festivals as the Florida
Electroacoustic Music Festival and June in Buffalo.

Neal has been commissioned by French duo Turdus Merula and Alaskan chamber group Ensemble Kunst. Equally at home with acoustic and electroacoustic music, he has also begun to experiment with sound installations and video.
In addition to his compositional work, Neal is an active promoter of contemporary music. For two years, he served as the president of the Georgia State student chapter of the Society of Composers, Inc., and has been an active member of the Atlanta Composers Group and local Audio Engineering Society chapters. He has co-presented numerous concerts in Atlanta and Belfast.
Neal often performs as part of his concert presentations, as a pianist, conductor, improviser, and sound projectionist. He is currently practicing submissions from his recent call for piano scores, and plans to begin recital dates in 2009. His CD of new age piano music, Between Equinoxes, will be released in late 2008.
